Exercise Message

The Lexington Fire Department has completed its response to a hazardous materials spill at the Happy Acres Farm. The material was identified as an organophosphate pesticide.

40-50 individuals being treated by responding Lexington Fire Department (LFD) staff. Approximately 6 persons were transported to local hospitals for additional treatment. Preliminary reports indicate that this was caused by a pesticide (organophosphate) spill.

Persons who were at the Happy Acres Farm during the pesticide release and evacuated before the Lexington Fire Department arrived should seek treatment at local hospitals if they experience any of the following symptoms:

·        Sweating more than normal
·        A sudden runny nose not associated with allergies
·        Watering eyes
·        Difficulty breathing
·        Chest pressure
The clean-up of the pesticide spill should be completed by noon today.
