Jacobson Park Reception Center Now Open The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) Divisions of Emergency Management, Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Human Services and The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross and other community agencies have completed setting up a reception area at Jacobson Park (4001 Athens-Boonesboro Road) for persons relocating from Madison County.  The reception center is now open for persons relocating from Madison County. Jacobson Park is closed to the general public.  No protective actions need to be taken by those persons living or working in Fayette County. This reception center operation follows the declaration of a community emergency in Madison County due to an accident Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond, KY involving chemical agents.  This accident occurred at approximately 8:45am. Exercise Message The Lexington Fire Department has completed its response to a hazardous materials spill at the Happy Acres Farm. The material was identified as an organophosphate pesticide. 40-50 individuals being treated by responding Lexington Fire Department (LFD) staff. Approximately 6 persons were transported to local hospitals for additional treatment. Preliminary reports indicate that this was caused by a pesticide (organophosphate) spill. Persons who were at the Happy Acres Farm during the pesticide release and evacuated before the Lexington Fire Department arrived should seek treatment at local hospitals if they experience any of the following symptoms: ·         Sweating more than normal ·         A sudden runny nose not associated with allergies ·         Watering eyes ·         Difficulty breathing ·  ...
Exercise - Exercise Lexington Emergency Operations Center Activated Hazardous Material Release at Happy Acres Farm The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated.  The EOC has received information that there has been a Hazardous Materials incident at the Happy Acres Farm.  There are about 40-50 individuals being treated by responding Lexington Fire Department (LFD) staff.  Preliminary reports indicate that this was caused by a pesticide (organophosphate) spill. The two events are not related. Response activities at Jacobson Park are ongoing. This activity is fully staffed with emergency, law enforcement and aid personnel. On-call first responders and unassigned volunteers should not come to Jacobson Park at this time. Exercise Message - CSEPP Exercise to begin Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Exercise Message: September is National Preparedness Month and as part of its county-wide preparedness effort, Lexington’s Division of Emergency Management, along with other public safety, health and medical, transportation and social service agencies, will conduct a disaster exercise at Jacobson Park on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. The exercise will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. and will conclude by 2:00p.m. Jacobson Park will be closed to the public that morning.  There will be increased traffic in the area of the park that will include police and fire department vehicles as well as Lextran buses.
